Large abstract expressionist painting, acrylic on canvas.
Part of a series of paintings, I developed these by taking natural forms from different environments and piecing them together, almost like a jigsaw. The limited palette gives a harmonious feel to the piece, and building up the paint in layers gives a depth to the colour. I gave this painting the nickname “Birdie” because one of my kids looked at it said they liked the birdie!
