After seeing a pair of whooping cranes I felt very inspired to bring them to canvas. Originally I planned only to paint one but before I knew it another had appeared. Rather than painting them in their natural habitat I wanted to give the picture a dream like quality with the birds soaring through turquoise and scattering a flurry of pink petals into the cool night sky.
