This is a palette knife painting of a snowy winter scene looking over an icy lake towards a small cottage surrounded by fir trees. Despite these trees and the cold winter conditions, I have made this a cosy scene with lights in the windows and a small decorated Christmas tree outside the home. What daylight there is reflects off the snow giving the painting a cheerful feeling.
I primed the canvas with a warm blue and painted over this with palette knife, allowing the blue to show through. The edges of the canvas are also painted blue.
